We hope you will enjoy reading about our school. SMP Negeri 1 Surabaya is one of largest yunior high school in Surabaya. This prospectus aims to give you an insight into how we are organized, the opportunities we provide for our students and the aspects of the school life we consider to be a great importance.

We seek to provide an ethos that promotes high standards in learning and behavior, where the development of the whole child within a broad and balanced curriculum takes place.

We work hard to create a sense of community within our school where every one is valued and plays an important role. We believe strongly in an activepartnership between home and school and aim to bring students to get superior achievements, and always keep school in conducive and under control condition.

SMP Negeri 1 Surabaya is a community school situated in heart of Surabaya and has been an integral part of the local community since it opened in 1951.

Formerly, the area of SMP Negeri 1 Surabaya was 1640m2. It got addition of land area 2797,25m2, and in 1990 it could build a basket ball court, a headmaster room, and administration room and a school hall.

A car park for head master, teachers, and other employees is at the front of school. The school has been designed to provide maximum security for all students, but in such a way that feels both open and welcoming. Besides regular classes, in 2002 SMP Negeri 1 Surabaya opened acceleration class, where the students can accomplish their study only in 2 years. And in 2007 it opened pioneering of international standard classes. In these classes certain subjects such as Mathematics, science, English and ICT are delivered fully in English. In the future, SMP Negeri 1 Surabaya will be international standard school.
